John Kelly

MV Sport

1951 – 2022

John was 70 years old. He was born and raised in Philadelphia. John was married to his wife, Cap, for 43 years.  They resided in Jamison, PA where they raised their two sons, Ryan and Grady.  When the boys were young John was active in coaching them in baseball, basketball, and soccer.  More recently, John played in two softball leagues, until sidelined with a knee replacement!

John was a wonderful friend to many.  He would be quick to start up a conversation with a stranger to make them feel at ease.  John was always ready with a corny joke or comment. He brought smiles to all that knew him!

John was pleased to be part of SAAGNY.  He was most appreciative of the effort and planning that it took to set up the shows and all that was entailed  in makin them successful.  While John valued the opportunity to show his products in a way that reached many people in a few days, what John valued was being around his colleagues.  Working as an independent sales rep, John enjoyed the time he got to spend getting to know the other reps in the industry. He would come home from the shows with stories of who was set up next to him, who he saw there, who he had dinner with, and how hard-working the organizers were!

Joshua Lapsker

Starline Industries

1943 – 2022

Born in Russia, Josh Lapsker immigrated to Israel as a boy with his family. At 12 years old, he would swim in nearby waters collecting timbers that had fallen off cargo ships and would sell them back on shore. Eventually, he settled in Montreal, Canada, with his family and would go on to forge a long career in promotional products.

Joshua designed and constructed pen printing machines for the Promotional Products Industry. As he learned this industry Joshua opened a promotional products company, Starline Industries Inc (CA) in 1969. As he grew this company his desire was to expand into the United States, so in 1992 Joshua opened a Buffalo, NY based company, Starline USA Inc (US). Mr. Lapsker designed and registered over 40 patents. Today this company holds numerous patents and is top supplier to the promotional products industry in North America employing over 130 people in Grand Island, NY.

Josh was heavily involved in philanthropy, specifically dealing in feeding needy children in Israel, USA and Canada. Josh is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
